New blog post: Best Open-Source Agent Memory Systems (Self-Hosted, 2026) — a fair, benchmark-grounded comparison of the self-hostable open-source agent memory systems (non-integration, commercial-investigation intent).

The angle

The SERP for "open source agent memory" is full of vendor-biased roundups (Cognee publishes posts ranking Cognee #1). The differentiated move is the honest one: lead with reproducible benchmarks and real self-hosting cost, and give competitors genuine credit. Fairness is the wedge.

What's in it

  • Comparison table (stars, license, self-host reality, storage, strength)
  • Per-system profiles: Mem0, Graphiti/Zep, Letta, Cognee, Hindsight (+ LangMem/Memobase/Memary)
  • "What self-hosted really costs" (embedded vs external DB; Zep CE deprecation)
  • FAQ (PAA capture) and a "when to pick each" guide

Accuracy

Every stat and claim was verified against live sources (GitHub stars/licenses on 2026-08-05, Zep CE deprecation, Graphiti bi-temporal model, Letta memory-blocks/MemGPT lineage, Cognee ECL + defaults, Hindsight 94.6% LongMemEval / #1 BEAM / four strategies = semantic·BM25·graph·temporal). Notably corrected a stale Mem0 benchmark figure and its self-hosting description, and reframed accuracy around BEAM at 10M (where LongMemEval is now saturated). Hindsight explicitly does not claim community leadership (Mem0 leads on stars) — that honesty is the point.

Quality

  • ~2,220 words, content-scorer composite 91.3/100
  • Internal deep-dive links (verified against main) + the vectorize.io pillar
  • Swiss/brutalist type cover, neutral (non-ranked) systems list

A fair, benchmark-grounded comparison of the self-hostable open-source agent
memory systems (Hindsight, Mem0, Graphiti/Zep, Letta, Cognee): comparison
table, per-system profiles, "what self-hosted really costs", FAQ, and a
"when to pick each" guide. Every stat/claim verified against live sources
(GitHub stars, licenses, Zep CE deprecation, benchmarks). Swiss-type cover.
