I would like to request adding internationalization (i18n) support to OtterWiki.
Currently, the interface is only available in English. For non-English speaking users, this creates a barrier to adoption. Adding i18n would allow the community to contribute translations, making OtterWiki accessible to a much wider audience.
A few suggestions for implementation:
Use Flask-Babel or a similar library to manage translation strings
Extract all hardcoded text in templates into a translations file (e.g., .po/.mo)
Allow users to switch languages via a setting or browser language detection
I would be happy to contribute the Chinese (zh-CN) translation once the infrastructure is in place.
I understand this involves a significant amount of code changes, so please consider this as a long-term suggestion rather than something to be implemented immediately. I hope this direction can be taken into account in future release planning.
