Here is a pull request that lets someone specify the enrolment status.
The idea is to be able to display content to those who a) are not enrolled at all, b) who are enrolled but have been suspended. For instance to promote the course prior to enrolment, and to probe the learner once the enrolment has become inactive.
Some stylistic changes and minor PHP doc improvements have been made along the way.
This change should be backwards compatible as it fallsback on the previous behaviour by defining the default
mode.
