Problem
My Codex allowance has suddenly started running out after roughly one hour of use, approximately 20 times faster than my previous experience. I have not changed my model, subscription plan, or settings, and I am not doing substantially more work than before.
I have used three usage resets recently because of this. At this rate I will not be able to keep using the service much longer.
Environment and timing
- Codex desktop app on Windows
- ChatGPT Plus
- Reported on October 10, 2026; exact onset and reset dates have not yet been recorded
- Model and settings unchanged according to my experience; exact model identifier and app version not collected for this report
Expected behavior
Comparable work with the same model, plan, and settings should consume a broadly comparable amount of my allowance, or any material change should be clearly explained.
Actual behavior and evidence limits
- Allowance lasts roughly one hour instead of the previous much longer usage.
- Estimated consumption increase: approximately 20x. This is my observed experience, not a token-normalized measurement.
- Three resets used recently to keep working.
- No controlled reproduction, before/after session-log comparison, or screenshots attached yet. The affected allowance window and exact cause still need verification.
