you can simplify it:

+ (NSString *)XMLStringForNode:(id)node withNodeName:(NSString *)nodeName
// ...
for (id individualNode in node)
{
    [nodes addObject:[individualNode innerXML]];
}
return [NSString stringWithFormat:@"<%1$@>%2$@</%1$@>", nodeName, [nodes componentsJoinedByString:@"\n"]];
