No e-mail notification sent when invitee is removed from event

Steps to reproduce

1. The host of an event creates a new event and invites someone to the event.
2. The invitee gets an invitation via mail and accepts the invitation. Everything is synchronized and the invitation status is transmitted correctly.
3. The participation of the invitee is no longer needed, so the host deletes the invitation but doesn't delete the event.
4. The former invitee gets NO notification about the change/cancellation.

Expected behavior

The deleted invitee should get a notification about the change/cancellation of the event.

It was alway like this before, even if the event wasn't deleted but remained in the calendar of the host (maybe with other invitees).

Actual behavior

Now the deleted invitee gets no more notification that the invitation was deleted. -> The person doesn't know that his presence at the event is no longer needed.

The deleted invitee gets the notification only if the event is deleted too.
The behavior is the same with Thunderbard als CalDAV-client and the nextcloud calendar interface in the browser.
