In the "Collect Debug information", can you add a short tldr at the beginning saying that the following steps will collect some data and collect it into a predefined directory, which can then be shared with nearone?

The [n]eard may be better as a pidof - assuming pidof is commonly available tool.

The metrics collection would be nicer as a neard subcommand (not to mention it'd be great to have some tests for it). Nothing urgent, the script is fine as a first step.

General question to educate myself: is this the go to page for validator instructions?

So far, this is where we’ve been updating the guidance about the validator nodes. After skimming through the documentation, it appears that many sections are outdated and could use some revision and updates.
