All Learnweb-plugins are maintained continously and we have the goal to offer our plugins to a wide bandwith of Moodle instances. The statistics on the moodle plugins directory show that our plugins are used on different Moodle versions at a the same time.
Moodle itself has different branches for it's stable version that get separat updates for the time they are supported. Due to limited resources we can not maintain different stable branches for different moodle versions and plugins. We have the following policy for the most of our plugins:
- The
main-branch marks the production branch. New features and bugfixes will always be available here and the main branch is updated regularly. If you always want the newest version, clone the main-branch and update it from time to time. It's similar to the "X.y+"-versions from Moodle. - Every tag marks a new release of the plugin. It can be seen as stable version of the plugin, where no more changes will occur. We orientate our tags on the newest moodle version it supports. Major releases (e.g. vX.y-r1) signalize that the plugin is ready for a new major Moodle version and minor releases (vX.y-r2...) add new features and bugfixes.
- We test our codebase against all currently supported versions (minimum a version with security support). This means that in general the plugin should work on every of this versions. But in case of a bug the fix won't be on a dedicated branch or tag for the broken version, but will be added to main. We recommend you to always update your Moodle instance to the newest version available.
