I ran into a situation similar to the one described here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2152098/ and wrote a br.submit_novisit() function solving the problem. You could find it useful as well.
Without it, I had to go back every time which doubled the number of requests (I'm not sure why it didn't take the page from the cache as mentioned in documentation).
