+If you spend ten minutes online researching where to learn to code, Exercism inevitably comes up. On Reddit, TikTok, and Instagram, there are countless posts — often with hundreds of thousands of reshares — recommending Exercism as *the* place to learn to code.

+But here's the thing: Exercism sucks as a place to learn to code.
+
+I get to say this, because I made it — well, me and a lot of other people — but still, seriously: don't use Exercism to learn to code.

+Exercism has never been designed for beginners. It's made for people who can already code and want to practice, or pick up a new language. It's a great platform, and so well-meaning people recommend it to beginners. The result is that thousands of beginners sign up every week — and nearly all of them end up disappointed.
