Thanks Dilyn for this, so glad to see clarification of how to build the kernel snaps in our Core documentation!
With the forthcoming release of the kernel and initrd plugins in snapcraft, the kernel snap build how-to should be updated to reflect the new methods. I wouldn't merge this until those plugins are released, of course. If by some horrific accident they don't get merged, we can cull the plugin-specific aspects and I can provide a variant that doesn't require plugins. In recent revisions of the kernel plugin, the kernel image uses the canonical name "vmlinuz". It is up to the user to identify what the final name should be (it would be based on what the gadget snap specifies). Signed-off-by: Dilyn Corner <dilyn.corner@canonical.com>
