There seems to be a confusion whether the modifier expect the nested objects to be real nested objects or just strings with dot in it.
On insert, it expect the document to be a real nested objects. On update, on the other hand, the object has keys with dot in it.
EDIT: sorry, there are some other commits in the history that are useless, because i had older changes and remerged everything to this origin here. I'm not that experienced with git and have to check how to remove it, but you get the idea what i mean by checking the files changed.
