Summary

This is the final release of the standalone Cadence CLI. It guides existing users to the Cadence App, winds down background activity on a fixed schedule, and leaves machines in a clean, quiet state.

  • bumps the standalone CLI to 2.7.0
  • prints a migration notice and opens the migration page at most once every 48 hours
  • retires the shell and PowerShell installers in favor of the Cadence App
  • preserves credentials, queued publications, configuration, and logs until the user explicitly uninstalls
  • keeps the Cadence agent CLI bundled with the desktop app separate and unaffected

Timeline

Date Behavior
Before 24 July 2026 AEST Existing capture continues, with migration notices and throttled browser nudges.
From 24 July 2026 AEST Session discovery and uploads stop. Cleanup, diagnostics, nudges, and stable self-updates remain available.
From 31 July 2026 AEST A final goodbye page opens once, monitor and legacy update schedulers are removed, and background activity stops permanently.

Platform cleanup

The shutdown path handles LaunchAgents, systemd user timers, and Windows scheduled tasks. Cleanup is idempotent, retries incomplete scheduler removal, and avoids terminating an active macOS cleanup process before its state and artifacts are handled.

Validation

  • cargo fmt -- --check
  • cargo clippy --all-targets --all-features -- -D warnings
  • cargo test --no-fail-fast

Allow scheduler cleanup to finish on Linux hosts without systemctl while preserving failures from available systemd installations. Add regression tests for updater and monitor artifact removal, and address Rust 1.97 Clippy diagnostics surfaced by CI.

Use the shared environment test guard correctly in Linux-only scheduler tests. Preserve scheduler command failures when service or timer file removal also fails, so monitor and legacy updater cleanup report every relevant error together.
Collapse Linux cleanup error handling as required by the current Clippy release and use the updater test module's environment guard API.
