Removes the orphan Byteable instance. Just use -XOverloadedStrings instead.

Ah, I removed some orphan instances, but technically that should require a major version bump. I assumed those instances were for ghci, hence my note about just using -XOverloadedStrings. Anyway, these thoughts are Submitted For Your Consideration. :P |

The two implementations seemed to have drifted unnecessarily. This synchronizes them. (Coming up next is a PR that reduces code duplication.)
