This was the sharpest piece of feedback from the pilot: the lesson names the CARE principles but doesn't say who created them, why, or how they're applied. Direct quote from the instructor feedback: "it doesn't talk about the indigenous community that created them, why they were created, or show how they are being used. The lesson doesn't really explain anything about indigenous data or indigenous knowledge sovereignty. This is a big omission."
More broadly, both FAIR and CARE are covered at a 'here's what the acronym stands for' level without going deeper — who created them, when you'd use them, how to implement them, or who beyond libraries needs to know about them. Reviewer suggested each could arguably be its own lesson rather than a short segment here, but at minimum the CARE/Indigenous sovereignty gap should be addressed directly (e.g., citing the Global Indigenous Data Alliance and the CARE principles' origin).
