Installation Checklist

What You Need to Bring for Installing

Bring extra sensors and an extra control box if travelling far.

  • Everything from the [Servicing Checklist](Servicing Checklist)
  • It is preferred the vessel powers the box using a 12V source, but if this isn’t readily available, you may need 110V AC/DC adapter.
  • EM hard drive key if applicable
  • Two hard drives with caddies
  • Keyboard
  • Monitor with vga and power cable
  • Linux boot drive
  • GPS aerial
  • Pressure sensor, with sensor cable
  • RFID scanner, with sensor cable
  • For V2XX systems, Ethernet cable, digital cameras, ethernet cable, rj45 connectors, Camswitch (Poe switch)
  • For V1XX systems, CCTV camera with BNC connection, coax cable, power cable TOOLS/PARTS
  • Soldering Iron and Solder
  • Power Drill with Screwdriver bits
  • Jeweller's Screwdrivers
  • Red (Molux) Crimping tool
  • Blue .1 Inch Crimping tool
  • Heat Gun and heat wrap
  • Adjustable wrenches
  • Needle-nose Pliers
  • Snub-nose Pliers
  • Scissors
  • Wire
  • RFID Chips (300 per boat)

Installation Procedure

  • Connect EM power (12V direct or AC adapter to 110V)
  • Identify and connect peripheral cables (GPS, PSI, cameras, RFID) as applicable
  • Install blank hard drive.
  • Power on the EM box.
  • Ensure all signals green in UI.
  • Operate hydraulics to test PSI response.
  • Plugin Battery Leads
  • Confirm psi trigger delay
  • Copy a data sample to USB
  • Note HDD and Control box serial numbers. # m9
  • Set home port geometry, and verify video recording pauses at port.
  • Copy video samples and send to the team.

  • Identify the best location for the three cameras and mount them to the vessel
  • Discuss the best placement for measuring strips with fisherman
  • Affix measuring strips
  • Fill in vessel information on VMP (attached)
  • Check the expected files are captured on the data drive.

  • Installed monitor with screen shot
  • Installed hydraulic pressure sensor
  • Installed secondary fishing activity sensor (if applicable)
  • Installed GPS
  • Camera 1 location
  • Screen shot of camera 1 view
  • Camera 2 location

  • Camera 3 location

Configuration

Follow the instructions here for configuring /etc/em.conf . Remember:

  • Configure a fake home port to test video recording.
  • Configure a real home port KML and verify video pauses.
  • Set the normal and slow framerate.
