Proposed Changes

Adds a new board target, Accretion Phone (accretion-phone), a DIY handheld built around an ESP32-S3.

Hardware:

  • ESP32-S3, 16MB flash, 8MB OPI PSRAM
  • ILI9341 2.8" 240x320 TFT (SPI)
  • XPT2046 resistive touch on its own SPI bus (no IRQ pin)
  • microSD over SDIO 1-bit (SD_MMC)
  • INMP441 I2S microphone
  • WS2812 LED, vibration motor, battery ADC

What's included:

  • boards/accretion-phone/ (interface.cpp, pins_arduino.h, accretion-phone.ini)
  • boards/_boards_json/accretion-phone.json
  • Pinout hook in boards/pinouts/pins_arduino.h
  • The new env added to the CI workflows, docker/run_all_envs.sh and platformio.ini
  • A 4-corner touch calibration on first boot (saved to LittleFS and SD). Hold a finger on the screen while booting to redo it.

No changes to core or module code.

Types of Changes

New Feature (new board support). No breaking changes, since only the new env is affected.

Verification

  • Build: pio run -e accretion-phone
  • Flash to an ESP32-S3 with the pinout in boards/accretion-phone/pins_arduino.h
  • Verified on real hardware (ESP32-S3, ILI9341, XPT2046): the first-boot touch calibration runs, then display, menu, status bar (clock, battery), SD card detection and touch navigation all work. Photos attached.

Testing

No automated tests (board definition only). The build is covered by the accretion-phone entry in the CI env matrix: manual build run #20 passed (commit 94bd442). Screenshot attached.

Linked Issues

None.
