Will V support stoppable threads

I was just wondering if there were any plans on implementing a feature that allows for a thread to be interrupted or stopped when it is running?

Once context is canceled you can do whatever in thread, including exit

He means have the main program stop the thread, rather than the thread doing something itself.

There are no plans to allow this. There are multiple ways to tell a thread to exit, but it has to do so itself. Or, of course, it is killed when the main program stops.

I have an idea — maybe it doesn’t have to be about waiting for the main thread to finish before running other threads. If what the person asking needs is just the ability to keep running in the background, I’ve implemented something similar in Linux in my VTF.
Perhaps we could leave the main thread idle while letting other threads handle their own tasks, without affecting the user’s ability to continue working on other things. If I understand correctly, you could try downloading VTF on Linux and test it using -n or --nohup to see if it provides the desired functionality.

That's the opposite of what he asked... he was wondering if V was going to have a way to stop child threads while the main thread kept going. The answer is no. It can signal the threads to stop, and they can stop themselves, but there is nothing built in to V to force a thread to stop.
