Migrate to the Maven Central Portal

Task Description

We are currently still using old Maven Central (OSSRH) repository to publish artifacts. A release hasn't been cut in a while. Back on June 30th 2025, OSSRH was sunset. This has now been replaced with the Maven Central Portal and we need to switch to it. To do so, we will have to pick one of the dozen of OSS plugins for Gradle that support this new Maven Central Portal.

Task List

The following tasks will need to be carried out:

• Generate a new API token.
• Check if we need to carry out a namespace migration.
• Pick a Gradle plugin that works for our needs.
• Implement the required changes.
• Test
  • Create a test release in the staging area and drop it once it's successful.
