gemini cli add not working, mac status bar disappears

Error: Not logged in to Gemini. Run 'gemini' in Terminal to authenticate.
prints the same error even after logging into gemini CLI successfully in the same terminal

Second problem. is that on the mac (Sequoita 15.7.4) the status bar icon does not show up. It tries to startup but then exits. See attached screen recording.

yes experiencing the same, status bar shows up but when checked, it disappears again. This is after the latest update , worked smoothly earlier
