Preset issue since the latest wiim mini firmware update

This morning I updated my wiim home android app and wiim mini firmware to V01-Apr 11 2025 and ever since then, wiimplay is unable to populate the drop down list of all my wiim presets. It seems to show just a single one when freshly added but is still unable to play it by selecting it. However, if I play a preset from the wiim home app or from my android Tidal app all the songs are populated in the main window. I was wondering if something API related has been changed by the firmware update and if you also experience this issue?

Edit: My browser pulls the preset info with the getPresetInfo command so maybe an issue with the upnp playlist calls

My WiiM Pro is on firmware V01-Apr 3 2025 which the WiiM Home app says is the latest and I'm not seeing any strange behavior on the playlist drop down menu. Unfortunately I don't have a WiiM mini.

I imagine they tweaked something in the UPnP API on the mini. Their playlist API is especially buggy. Do you see any error messages in the WiiMPlay console output? It would be helpful if you can share the console output when you first start WiiMPlay.

No errors in the console output. It just loads the Times Radio playlist which isn't even a preset in the Wiim home app (just a remnant of some Tunein station I manually loaded previously) and then ignores all the 12 presets. See console output below.:

I do have a workaround for the playlists. I've created some bookmarks in my browser for each preset setPlayerCmd:MCUShortClick :1-12 so they can be loaded and played via the http API instead.

Interestingly, it will actually play the Times Radio playlist from clean at power on but once I've manually loaded a preset via the browser, the Times Radio playlist does nothing when selected from the drop down list.

If you're willing, it would be helpful to run the scan application from this repo and send me the results. I would suggest sending it directly to me rather than posting it here because it's possible it could have some personally identifiable information in it. To run it, go to the base directory of this repo and run this:
go run github.com/shumatech/wiimplay/scan > scan.log
And e-mail me the scan.log file. This scans the network for Wiim devices and collects the output of the most important UPnP API calls that WiimPlay uses. If you can't run it from the repo, I can send you a binary.

Thanks for the scan.log. I see a couple of things that went wrong. First, there is Could not decode metadata: EOF which means that the scan was unable to decode the track XML metadata. This is probably means either it is missing altogether or the items XML element is missing. This could be harmless and shouldn't cause issues for the playlist.

The more serious error is:

I think this is coming from the Wiim firmware and seems to indicate an internal error when it is trying to generate the playlist in response to the BrowseQueue(CurrentQueue) request. It could be that there is some metadata in the playlist items that it is not expecting. There's not much I can do about that on my side. Perhaps try selecting other playlist items and see if the problem goes away.

Thanks for checking and the info. This morning I've tried removing all my presets and rebooting and adding new ones and the problem still persists, so it must be related to the recent 11th April 25 WiiM Mini firmware update. I see a new update was released for the Pro yesterday (23rd April) so it will be interesting to see if it the problem has found its way to that one too. As mentioned earlier, I have a workaround using my 12 preset browser http API bookmarks so it's not a showstopper as no functionality has really been lost.

In case anyone reading this has the same issue, here is an example of the first of my 12 WiiM preset browser bookmarks. Replace xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx with the IP address of the WiiM device and change the preset number (1-12) for each preset at the end of the line:

Now fixed for me after upgrading to firmware v 4.6.805929 (Jan 28th 2026)

Edit, I jumped the gun. It now pulls all my presets from the mini but just restarts the currently playing preset when any is selected. Oh well, maybe next time.
