Describe the solution you'd like
Mastodon recently began the switch to vips as it is apparently faster and uses less memory mastodon/mastodon#20269. It also has less security issues currently.

Indeed, I saw that, but nothing happened. Why not move by default to vips for all installs to improve performance/memory usage?
