XMLSec 1.3.11

The XML Security Library 1.3.11 release includes the following changes:

• (xmlsec-openssl) Added support for OpenSSL 4.0.0.
• (xmlsec-windows) The XMLSec build configuration script on Windows is converted to PowerShell, the JScript version is deprecated and will be remove in the future versions.
• (xmlsec-docs) The XMLSec API reference was converted to Doxygen / Pandoc (instead of Gtk-Doc).
• (xmlsec-docs) The XMLSec API reference, tutorial, and examples had been updated to Markdown files and moved to
  GitHub Wiki.
• Several other small fixes (see more details).

I've now integrated this to collabora online as well, and there we ran into the removal of the --disable-apps and --disable-docs switches:

Do you have a suggestion how we could avoid patching xmlsec in the long term? It's a trivial patch, but I'm happy if we don't need to patch xmlsec at all. In short: if the consumer only uses the library, then it was useful to not build other material (cmdline tool, docs) and now it looks like there is no way to do that anymore. Thanks.

• --disable-apps: sorry about that one -- I didn't think anybody cares and I run into problems when I added unit tests. Removing it was easier than trying to figure out how to restore it. If you need it, then I can add it back

• --disable-docs: I completely revamped the doc build and it is no longer needed. Docs are NOT getting build at all unless you run make -C docs docs (eg as part of creating a release tar ball). So effectively --disable-docs is now default.

Ah, I see. :-) So yes, then it's only about --disable-apps. What's easier for you, should I look at restoring that in a PR or would you like to do that? Either way is fine for me. Thanks.

I would naively expect it's a matter of excluding "apps" from the list of sub-directories to recurse into, based on a configure switch, but perhaps there is some hidden complexity there.

Now I remembered -- it was docs build refactoring, not unit tests. Naive way of doing it didn't work because I needed specific folders order in the build :)

SUBDIRS  = include src man docs
if XMLSEC_APPS
SUBDIRS += apps
endif

Anyway, this should do it: #1158
