Description
In https://linuxmint-installation-guide.readthedocs.io/en/latest/install.html, there's a warning box that says:
Encrypt the new Linux Mint installation for security refers to full disk encryption. At this stage of the installation your keyboard layout wasn’t yet selected so it is set to en_US. If you decide to use this option, keep this in mind when entering a password. Note that there are issues with this option and some NVIDIA drivers. If you are new to Linux use home directory encryption instead (you can select it later during the installation).
(Emphasis mine).
However, there's no links to any issues or description of just what the issues are, so it's not really possible to assess the potential impact and work out tradeoffs. Is using full disk encryption going to result in slow boots, or system crashes? Is there any sign that the issues will ever be fixed? Is this problem specific to Mint, or is this across most or all flavours of Linux?
Searching through issues, the closest I could find was linuxmint/cinnamon#12682
