My only guess is that larapaper is escaping the image_url slashes? but there's no error messages on either side.

What Trmnl server are you using?

It looks like the json did not deserialize correctly.

Additionally, that URL does look escaped which it should not be.

Agreed, but also shouldn't cause it to fail. \/ and / are essentially the same thing
I got platformio installed again last night, gonna try to make a build tonight that logs the json

my C is very very rustry, and i've not worked with platformio before
but from what I can tell, its because it has a transfer-encoding of chunked, and has extra data on the stream

It looks like the default http library does automaticaly work if you use getStream, but not if you use readbytes, maybe
https://github.com/bblanchon/ArduinoStreamUtils?tab=readme-ov-file#how-to-decode-http-chunks seems to be the safer option, but i got distracted by the readbytes stuff, and then eventually more distracted trying to figure out if httpGet could just return a stream (it can't cause of the inline http.end inside of the function)

So I think i'm going to go back to trying to drain into the buffer

Also if you look at it at all, I think its also worth making sure there's a connection closed header set, so it gets closed and doesn't wait for more stuff on the buffer.

Okay. Resetting it and just doing a single readbytes works

Now I just gotta add back the rolling buffer and I think I can pr this

I just tested my own implementation for using the native http client's chunked encoding support in 5ead804.

I'll run it for a few days to ensure it is stable before creating a new tagged release with it.

v1.1.5 has been pushed with support for chunked encoding.

Feel free to re-open this issue if the implemented method still does not work.
