How to scroll multiple lines on main window with keyboard?

I can only find the page-up and page-down key to scroll a single line a time. How to scroll multiple lines like , and . keys on other panels?

This is not possible yet, and the reason is that there's no way to focus the main view. I'm working on a PR that adds a way to focus it (either by clicking, or by pressing 0), and then you will be able to use all the normal navigation keys like , and ., or < and > to go to the beginning and end. This will also make it possible to search the main view.

It's a lot of work though, so it probably won't be available very soon.

A nice workaround might be modifiers with the page keys, for ex. Shift + Page Up/Down to scroll half-pages or full pages on the main view.

As an example, the yazi file manager works this way, using by default J and K (capital 'j' and 'k') to scroll through the preview pane. And I was able to customize my bindings for yazi in ~/.config/yazi/keymap.toml:

The shift+pgdown / shift+pageup was what I was thinking too.

Would that be simpler than the "proper" way you've described, Stefan? If it's do-able, it would probably be good enough for most people. Scrolling one line at a time is often tedious.

If someone else is looking for a solution, here it is. I was struggling with the same problem.

In ~/.config/lazygit/config.yml add:

I like being able to jump 20 lines using / so I set the scrollHeight to 20. but I also want to be able to scroll with the mouse, and for some reason when it's set to 20 and I scroll with my mouse, it jumps 60 or so lines at a time.
Does anyone have a solution for that?
I use ghostty and the scroll multiplier in my ghostty config is set to 1, so I don't know why it's scrolling a lot more than 20 lines.
