keep getting disconnect from server error even when trying to download dataset on multiple devices

Nice project.

When I go to the website: https://gdancik.shinyapps.io/shinyGEO/

and enter GSE71729 and hit go I get a disconnected from server error. This was working great this morning so I might have broken something. I understand I could probably just run it locally but I thought I would give you a heads up.

It might just be GEO though, they have been buggy lately with geo2r

Thanks for the message and the heads up. I just tried this using the main website

https://gdancik.shinyapps.io/shinyGEO/

and was able to analyze GSE71729. You are right that it may have been an issue with GEO. The disconnect error happens periodically if there are temporary issues with their servers.

The error also happens occasionally with large datasets, because of timeout issues on the shinyapps site. That likely isn't the case with GSE71729, but if that becomes an issue you should run shinyGEO locally.
