Add an option to disable the gesture support

b52b289 added a feature which detects an "S" gesture to open the noscript menu. This is extremely annoying on mobile, where attempting to scroll will be treated as the start of the gesture and eat the scrolling input. Please add an option to disable the feature.

Fixed by 5acae45 in latest dev builds >= 13.6.3.901.

Also disabled by default for Tor Browser users, since the general Tor Browser stance is hiding NoScript UI for regular users.

Waiting for approval of 13.6.4 on AMO, in the meanwhile I'm trying to make the gesture detection more specific, by not overriding the default actions until the first direction change is performed.

The motto of noscript is "consensual browsing".
don't you think it's a bit off to include such a disruptive feature and include no consent mechanism? This is a major concern.
this should never have happened. If you were going to add an experimental feature, it absolutely should be OFF BY DEFAULT.

I've had to temporarily disable NoScript on Firefox Mobile, due to this gesture feature being added. It has genuinely made browsing extremely difficult.

Not once have I ever wanted a feature like that to be added to NoScript.

I sincerely hope 13.6.4 is approved very soon, and agree it should be off by default.

I'd rather this be removed outright. I explicitly turn off gestures and I don't want some security extension on my browser deciding it knows what I want based on some scrolling behavior that's as apt to cause the phone to be thrown in frustration as to actually get it right.

A request: Don't implement new features without any option to disable.

This doesn't just impact scrolling, it also impacts drawing with a stylus on drawing sites like Magma. Please consider this use case in your future gesture detection work.

Added context: This is on Windows 11 with a touchscreen tablet, not on mobile.

+1 for removal, not an option. I don't know how this gesture helps anyone that the existing context menu on desktops, or the regular extension menu on mobile, doesn't already, and re: triadne, it is ironic that such a thing was added and not designed from the start as an opt-in or configurable feature.

I've deinstalled NoScript and will look into trustwothy alternatives. That such a nonsensical and invasive feature got added without option to disable it shows that there are people in the NoScript team who're not thinking. Who knows where else they might not think? That's a major security concern.

Edit: My Firefox on my Galaxy S10 now is way faster as well. I would've never found out that NoScript was causing the lag. I always thought it's just the old phone. So thanks for that I guess.

I not only want to disable NoScript's efforts to intercept my scrolling gestures, but disable NoScript's auto-upgrade power to break the user interface—as I can disable that of Firefox.
