Posting to the site has been made simpler! Yay! A cutdown post form has been made.
Once logged into the site users are directed to a dashboard where they can submit and review posts https://force11.org/dashboard-mod/
All posts submitted via the dashboard go into a moderation queue - this moderation is absolutely necessary as spam is a constant problem.
Post moderation can be done by all FORCE11 board and authorised users. Moderation happens here with a dedicated moderation tool set - https://force11.org/wp-admin/admin.php?page=pp-content-board
Tasks
- An editor of moderation group need to be formed to solicit posts from the FORCE11 community and carry out moderation.
- Moderation is managed using an editorial tool suite - notifications can be setup for Slack or Email, user groups can be given clearance to publish without moderation, etc. https://publishpress.com/planner/
- Once FORCE11 if ready to start a Editorial group and moderation workflow could be documented and some onboading carries out.
Groups
A new Groups function has been added to the site. And the Groups have been launched: https://force11.org/active-groups/
Because Groups tend to use their own platforms accross the web, platforms, and apps etc., a streamlines Groups section has been added and the complicated BuddyPress system from Humanities Commons removed. Before 2022 FORCE11 has a different Groups system called Organic Groups from Drupal but that was reading an End of Life notification for the software. FORCE11 continues to use Google Groups for email for some of the groups. But again Google Groups has problems, looks like Google changed the product role in their tech stack and made it hard to use its API. NB: Academic Working Groups seem really poorly served by tech suppliers.
Groups editing has some dedicated fields for adding:

- Group members
- Group link
- Group posts
Tasks
- Documentation to be supplied by Web Committee for Group admins and groups members.
Membership
Membership moderation has been automated since 2022 as before that spam was a very serious problem for FORCE11.
The automatic moderation keeps the website safe as can be.

Tasks
- Someone needs to take on responsibility for membership
- Carry out some data anaysis on membership
- Develop membership
- Do some manual moderation on membership - In the category 'Pending' are members who have not verified emails addresses supplied and so failed the requirement for membership, but it could be some of these are valid possible members.
- When somebody takes on the Membership management role then some documentation and onboard of the available systems for data anaysis can be give.
FORCE11 Board website dashboard and permissions
The website Wordpress Dashboard has been simplied and some permissions removed for ease of use.
The configurations might prevent some editing or have caused unforseen problem - please raise an issue here or on Slack with the Web Committee.
