AI researchers face hurdles when it comes to hardware due to the lack of open architectures and hardware platforms. When it comes to deployment, the interfacing part takes up a lot of time due to these issues. We are proposing to address the issues with portability and reusability of hardware design and development by developing a standardised open hardware architecture platform. Our GitHub repository is part of the Deep Robotics Open Source initiative which consists of providing open access to resources and knowledge that we have developed for fellow researchers, scientists, engineers, and hobbyists in an effort to advance the field of robotics.

We are developing an opensource bipod robot platform in which researchers can deploy and test their AI algorithms. This robot can be used for different AI use cases like NLP, speech processing and computer vision. The proposed design will consist of a stereovision camera for image and depth perception and a microphone and speaker for audio input and playback. Along with this, we are planning to add various other sensors for environment perception, control, navigation and path planning and servo motors for actuation. This system will serve as a unified platform for the AI researchers to test, experiment and prototype AI models which is currently difficult as not may open source platforms are available. you can checkout our Deep Robot Gen-1 or our current research projects to learn more about our Research.
