force-mosaic with GeoTIFF ouput and compression options

Hi David,

I assume most users use force-mosaic for visualization, and might want to share the results with others using single .tif files.
Would it make sense to allow generate .tif mosaic and some args for compressions to reduce the file size?
I often use the gdal_tranlsate with following params to get quick visualization of large images with minimal size:

gdal_translate mosaic.vrt mosaic.tif -of GTiff \
        -ot Byte -scale 0 10000 0 255 \
        -co TILED=YES \
        -co COMPRESS=JPEG \
        -co JPEG_QUALITY=75
