Additional Information
This occurs on every platform but I just selected web as it's the most universal. I know many people find the search feature to be a pain to use and I think that some simple improvements could help that.
One obvious option is including fuzzy searches, be it by default or with a manual prompt if it proves too intensive to do every time. This should help a lot in of itself, but I think also including more parameters into searches could prove useful too (such as previous usernames, acronyms for verified users where applicable, trying to weight searches by people that are followed by people you also follow, etc).
For instance, searching "AEW" right now doesn't even show the official AEW account @allelitewrestling.com
at all on the initial overlay, as seen below.

When searching properly, the official AEW account is the 3rd result listed, despite being verified and older than both other accounts above, as seen below.

Of course, in this case the only reference to the acronym is in the profile picture and twice in their bio. This is obviously a specific case, but I feel that at least for verified accounts, it could be worthwhile allowing users to add tags for their own profile that can help them be found easier, though I do think the average user could also benefit from this too.
