Where are the Martian atmospheric profiles in arts-xml-data-2.6.18 from?? #1154
|
Hi, I'm currently doing microwave RT simulations for the Martian atmosphere using pyarts. I'm using the atmospheric temperature and VMR profiles given in arts-xml-data-2.6.18, inside the planets/Mars/MPS directory for this purpose. I wanted to ask if anyone can help me figure out what the data source is for these profiles. A previous discussion her had asked a similar question and this technical note was attached with the answer: https://github.com/user-attachments/files/18822395/mendrok12_esa_planets_tn1.pdf . This note further cites a paper by A. Krasnopolsky, which gives the details of the atmospheric composition in terms of percentages of various gases, but the datasets in arts-xml-data-2.6.18 are comprehensive vertical atmospheric profiles given for various seasons, times, dust levels etc. The earlier discussion had another note attached (https://github.com/user-attachments/files/18822400/rezac12_esa_planets_tn2.pdf), but the section on Mars seems to be incomplete in this one. I was unable to find the source of these profiles, or information about how they were generated, in the documentation. If someone can please help me figure out where this data is from, and who I can cite as a definitive source for these profiles, I'd really appreciate it. Thank you in advance!! |

Here is the final version of the technical note which includes the sections on Mars and Jupiter: I hope it contains all the information you need. |
