Priorities for RockMagPy development

Here we can discuss our priorities for RockMagPy development.

Let's start with hysteresis processes where there has been significant progress, but refinements are needed.

Our current priorities can be to:

• implementing the approach-to-saturation fitting as the default behavior
• developing three hysteresis notebooks:
  • The "just do it" notebook (brings in data and processes with decision-tree algorithm); interactive data visualization, processing of all specimens in contribution, generate new MagIC contribution, make summary hysteresis plot of Mrs/Ms versus Bc (often referred to as a Néel plot)
  • explanatory methods notebook, teaching tool to explain how hysteresis data processing works, how the code works, and explains the each of the parameters
  • notebook that enables custom loop processing; enable interactive processing (nonlinear; fixed linear); enable custom parameters associated with fits to be applied in a batch or sample by sample

For our backfield processing priorities:

• simple code/notebook that extracts backfield experiments and calculates Bcr; have this estimated value be added to the MagIC contribution
• notebook that implements unmixing of magnetic coercivity distributions
  • can implement the MaxUnMix algorithm
  • could export the MaxUnMix format for uploading into the Shiny app
  • can implement other approaches as well
