The method for obtaining article and data citations at present uses the title of article associated with a data record for searching Scopus. This could result in incorrect matches (false positives), and false negatives. The accuracy of this procedure could be improved by using article identifiers (PMIDs, DOIs) rather than the title, where the identifier exists.
