Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
When debugging the log.html from another person a common cause for a bug is that they are running an old version of a mod and that that bug is actually already fixed.
This information is not obvious. The two ways to find out currently are:
- the modder randomly knows the mod in question and their last release version
- the modder has a bot which automatically reads the log.html and crossreferences the versions in it
Describe the solution you'd like
Whenever a new version of a mod is detected via the update checker, make a note of that information and write it directly into the log.html.
I want to know:
- that there is a more up-to-date version
- which the latest version is (version number)
[Bonus1] Release/Install Dates
Additionally it would be nice to know:
- when that latest version (from update checker) was released
- when the currently used version was installed/added to the game
The release/install date is an additional indicator that will be helpful to gage, how likely a certain mod is the cause of a bug.
[Bonus2] Cache information persistently
Not every user it connected with the internet all the time. Sometimes the github/nexumods api hit a cap and allow no more fetching for updates. And perhaps rarely github/nexusmods are down.
As a consequence, this update check will not succeed on every start of the game.
MSU could safe the information of old update-checks persistently across safegames. So that it can provide them at a later point, even if the game was started in offline mode
